We’ve always said that in order to be a Democrat, you have to lack self-awareness and the hypocrisy gene, as Joe Biden has proven once more.
Within hours of taking office, one of a multitude of executive actions Biden signed in the Oval Office was an order to halt all wall construction along the U.S.-Mexico border. That order, coupled with several others reversing President Donald Trump-era border and immigration enforcement actions and agreements directly led to the illegal migrant crisis our country is currently experiencing, there is no question about it.
The Associated Press reported:
As of Jan. 15, the government spent $6.1 billion of the $10.8 billion in work it signed contracts to have done, according to a Senate Democratic aide with knowledge of the contracts who spoke on condition of anonymity because details have not been made public. The full amount under contract would have extended Trump’s wall to 664 miles (1,069 kilometers).
Biden, seeking to fulfill a pledge not to build “another foot,” gave his administration two months to determine how much it would cost to cancel contracts and whether money could be spent elsewhere. The Senate aide said fees would be negotiated with contractors and the administration would seek to spend whatever’s left on related uses on the border, such as roads, lights, sensors and other technology.
Biden gave his administration 60 days to ‘study’ whether it was feasible to end the contracts but he knew then — or his handlers did — that the wall was finished. And earlier this month, Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported via Twitter: “NEW: DHS announces it is cancelling [sic] all remaining border wall contracts in the Laredo sector and all border barrier contracts in the Rio Grande Valley sector. In press release, Biden administration calls on Congress to instead fund ‘smarter’ border security measures.”
There is no such thing as a “smarter” border security measure; that is an illusion, propaganda, a distraction. Trump’s wall came with security cameras, motion sensors, and better access roads so there’s that as well.
No, the best security is a wall, and how do we know that? Because Biden has authorized one to be built by DHS around one of his houses in Delaware.
“The southern border with Mexico is seeing the highest levels of illegal border crossings in 35 years, but the Department of Homeland Security has found one access point it can shore up — doling out $455,000 to a Delaware construction company for a fence around President Biden’s ‘Summer White House,” the New York Post reported.
The paper went on to report that the contract went into effect on Sept. 21; it expires Dec. 31, and the construction is expected to be completed by then as well.
Got that? Biden deserves to have a fence built around his house — and by the way, we happen to agree with that because after all, he is the president of the United States and he needs to be secure.
But here’s the thing: American citizens deserve no less, which is why this fence around his beach house is such BS after he stopped construction of a border wall that U.S. Border Patrol officials said during the Trump years was responsible for dramatically curbing not just illegal immigration but rampant drug smuggling, both of which are out of control again.
“The construction of the private security fence comes in a chaotic first year of Biden’s presidency, which has seen historic numbers of illegal immigrants crossing at the southern border,” The Post continued. “This week, data released by US Customs and Border Protection revealed that 1.7 million migrants have crossed the border in FY 2021, the highest number since 1986.”
And more are on the way.
What Biden’s handlers are doing to U.S. national security is treason, straight up. But because our institutions are broken, no one is going to be held responsible.
