New York City (NYC) has begun distributing flyers to discourage illegal aliens from heading to the Big Apple, which is already strained as a result of the ongoing migrant crisis.
Local authorities announced the endeavor during a Sept. 27 press conference, adding that the flyers are written in both English and Spanish. A report by WPDE 15 said the flyers contain a list of warnings to border crossers entering the U.S. illegally.
The flyer began with a warning against “wrong information” coming from both social media and human traffickers. It then emphasized that the city’s resources “have been exhausted” as a result of responding to the migrant crisis.
“NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the world. You are better off going to a more affordable city,” the flyer continued. “NYC cannot help you obtain a work permit, and you will not be able to easily find work.”
It also touched on the issue of illegals being housed in luxury hotels in the city. The flyer clarified that illegal immigrants who end up in the city “will not be placed in a hotel,” further emphasizing that earlier batches of illegals “are now getting letters to move out of the shelter.”
The flyer’s statement about illegal aliens being forced to move out aligned with NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ recent mandate limiting adult border crossers to 30 days in the city’s facilities. Back in July, he said officials would begin distributing flyers at the U.S.-Mexico border to push migrants to other areas.
“The flyers are the latest attempt by the sanctuary city to quell an overwhelming influx of migrants,” the WPDE 15 report further added. “Adams previously said the migrants could cost the city $12 billion over the next three years while pleading for help from the Biden administration.” (Related: NYC Mayor Adams blasts Biden admin for burdening Big Apple with ILLEGALS.)
In August, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) pointed her finger at Democratic politicians such as Adams, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and President Joe Biden for the Big Apple’s issues. According to her, the “radical” sanctuary policies in blue cities pushed by the three are to blame.
“Unfortunately, because of these extreme Democrats’ policies, every community is now a border community,” said Stefanik, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. She added that those communities are now “reaping the havoc these policies have caused.”
She also expressed opposition to a proposal to utilize the Massena International Airport, located at the northern tip of the Empire State, as housing for illegals.
“Upstate New York and the North Country is not a ‘sanctuary city.'” Stefanik remarked in a statement. “We should not have to bear the cost of Biden, Hochul and Adams’ far-left open border policies and the havoc they are causing.”
The congresswoman for the Empire State concluded her statement by calling on Biden to “end his radical open border policies and secure [the] northern and southern borders.”
According to Stefanik, her GOP colleagues in the House of Representatives know that border security is national security.
“That is why we made restoring border security a key pillar of our ‘Commitment to America’ that we ran and won on in 2022. In 2024, border security will once again be on the ballot,” she said. “I fully expect New Yorkers and Americans to vote these extreme New York Democrats out of office.”
