The vast majority of French citizens – including many who lean left on the political spectrum – believe that there is a link between the rise in mass immigration and the collapse of public safety in the country.
The poll was conducted by the Paris-based CSA Institute for the French TV channel CNews, radio station Europe 1 and the weekly newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche. According to its findings, 68 percent of respondents see a correlation between immigration and the rise in delinquency in France.
The connection is widely recognized among right-wing voters, according to Remix News. Ninety-four percent of those supporting the French Republican Party recognize such a link, alongside 93 percent of those aligned with the National Rally (NR) of Marine Le Pen. But a significant majority of voters backing pro-immigration left-wing parties also share the concern.
Sixty-eight percent of those backing the Renaissance Party of French President Emmanuel Macron agree on the link between high immigration and France’s diminished security. Forty-three percent of Socialist Party Supporters, 38 percent of La France Insoumise voters and 34 percent of The Ecologists – France’s counterpart of the Green Party – also agree with the sentiment, per the survey’s findings.
Women (7o percent) are more likely than men (67 percent) to agree that immigration is negatively affecting national security. Older people – 76 percent of respondents aged 50 and up – view mass immigration less favorably, acknowledging its detrimental impact on the country. A majority in every age bracket concurs with that view, the CSA Institute noted.
“Who can seriously say that there aren’t any? This does not naturally mean that a foreigner is a delinquent,” answered former French President Nicolas Sarkozy when asked about the survey’s findings.
“But of course, the link is obvious. The number of foreigners in our prisons and the part they take in delinquency in general are clear. To deny it is nothing more than a new denial of reality.” (Related: Former counter-intelligence chief has been warning about CIVIL WAR in France long before riots erupted due to decades of MASS IMMIGRATION.)
Remix News stated that immigration has become a leading issue in France amid the elections of the European Parliament. Right-wing politicians such as Le Pen, NR President Jordan Bardella and Eric Zemmour of the Reconquest Party are campaigning hard on this topic.
Last August, Macron said during an interview with the political magazine Le Point that the country “needed to reduce immigration significantly, starting with illegal immigration.” He warned at the time that the current arrival rate of migrants was “not sustainable,” adding that his government will submit a new immigration bill to the French Parliament in fall of that year. The adoption of the said bill has bee postponed several times.
“Are we flooded with immigration? No. You cannot say that,” the French leader said. “But the current situation is not sustainable, and we need to reduce immigration significantly, starting with illegal immigration. We have a duty to deliver.”
“To do this, we need to better protect our external European borders, because let’s not forget that France is not a country of entry for foreigners arriving in Europe, but rather a country of secondary immigration for foreigners who have entered the European Union from another country.”
